Dear Rhio,

I have just received your book in the mail and it is wonderful and very helpful, full of great information which I am sure you already know. You mention early on about your personal health issues and that you lost a lot of weight by eating raw.

My health hasn't been great- low energy etc... nothing really serious but definitely time for some major changes. I have been eating 80-90% raw for the past couple of months - I am feeling better and much less toxic - acid/alkaline balance feels like it is much better also. I am 35 pounds overweight and really want to work with my body to support the release of this.

Are there foods that you feel would hamper weight-loss at this time? I know that avocado's are wonderful but high in fat - I only have 1/2 of one per day and really don't eat many nuts.

Any suggestions on what worked for you - would be very appreciated.

Thanks again for your generous information.

Love & Blessings,

R

Dear R,

What worked for me while losing the weight was to do juice fasting for a few to many days, depending on my schedule. In the beginning I went to a health spa and so was supported by the other people there doing the program as well. Also, at the spa there was much opportunity for exercise all day long, so it was a concentrated program.

Later I became adept at being able to juice fast on my own. So now if I happen to go up a little, I nip it in the bud with a few days of juice fasting or fasting on the water of green water coconuts.

Everyone's weight problems and solutions are a little bit different. For me I can go on a low calorie diet with very little fat and still not lose weight. Low calorie dieting does not work for me, but juice fasting (which is also low calorie) does work for me. For others low calorie foods might work out, and they would lose. I would say if you want to do a raw diet with little fat, at least put some fat in like you are doing with the 1/2 avocado per day or as far as a prepared main course dish that has nuts in it, have only 1/2 cup of that (while trying to lose the excess) with a big salad or greens or energy soup.

I have one recipe that I used a lot when juice fasting - I used to have it at night because it would be very satisfying. See Rhio's Hot Drink - page 247.

Many people (a high percentage) that go on the raw diet lose weight without even trying at all.

Other adjuncts to losing weight are watermelon juice, celery juice, colonics and of course, exercise and more. . . exercise.

Much luck to you.

Rhio

Dear Rhio,

Thank you so much for your quick response and the helpful information. I have fasted a few times over the years and it was always helpful. I will continue to do this. Thanks again for the Hot Drink Tip.

Many Blessings to you,

R
