Hi,
Rhio:
A few years ago a woman named Ann Thompson, who had hypo-thyroidism, wrote to
you saying she was able to cut her medication in half after just 2 months on
a raw-food diet.
I've got the opposite health condition, HYPER-thyroidism, and I've been eating
100% raw for a little over a month. I was doing fine and saw a few improvements.
Then, all of a sudden two people close to me who eat the SAD diet put fear and
worry in me. I became anxious and despairing that the diet will work for me.
Plus, I keep trying to go off my medication and I simply can't do that right
now; I become very sick when I do.
My question is, do you know anyone else personally that has had hyper-thyroidism
who healed it through a raw diet? (Igor Boutenko, of Raw Family, is one, but
the book has limited information on what he experienced, and as far as I know
he never went to a doctor to have his thyroid levels medically verified.)
Also, have you heard from Ann Thompson lately? Her letter to you is on your
website under "hypo-thyroidism."
Forgive me for being skeptical, but I do think proof is crucial when people
go around claiming healing from serious diseases. People also have an obligation
to supply proof. Just "feeling" you're healed isn't enough.
Thanks,

Dear
SS,
I promote the raw food diet and lifestyle as Nature's way to stay youthful and
healthy. Oftentimes by following along this path, many former disease conditions
either improve substantially or fall away altogether.
I am not a practitioner of any kind, so your question really should be directed
to a practitioner. Please accept the following only as an exchange of
ideas and information.
Ann Thompson has not kept in touch with me, and I did not solicit her letter
in any way. It was spontaneously shared because of my challenge at the lecture
that I gave.
I don't feel that individual people who have benefited from the diet have any
obligation to supply proof. They have made the lifestyle work for them and God
bless them. That doesn't mean that they are then obligated to even tell anyone
about it, because
1) for the most part other people are not really interested in listening unless
or until they get into trouble with their health themselves, and
2) When they do tell their story, many times they are met with resistance, doubt
and "skepticism", and
3) They may not be inclined to make "spreading the information" their
life's work as some of us have.
4) Some people who have spread the information (doctor verified) about their
healing have been prosecuted. Check out the case of Jason Vale who healed himself
of cancer by eating apricot kernels. He was sentenced to prison for selling
apricot kernels and trying to help people by telling his story. I believe his
case is on appeal.
5) Why would an individual have an "obligation" as you say to prove
anything to you? Don't you think the allopathic doctors should supply some proof
about how they are healing people? But they never do, because they do not heal
today. They just "manage" your disease by keeping you on drugs forever.
And if you think that Allopathic doctors heal people, just check out the deplorable
statistics from the Centers for Disease Control.
No, I do not know anyone personally who has reversed this condition except for
Igor, or at least I don't recall anyone offhand.
Igor Boutenko is off medications, and never had another operation. He and his
wife Victoria have been thoroughly tested by Dr. Luigi Fontana at the Washington
University School of Medicine in St. Louis who did a recent study comparing
18 raw food enthusiasts against 18 people on the standard American diet (SAD).
I feel that you do not really understand the raw diet fully and have let your
well-meaning friends shake your resolve to continue, even though you say you
were seeing "a few improvements." A month of raw eating does not
undo a lifetime of SAD. And it is not a reasonable expectation. Each person's
body is very individual and will heal on different timetables according to their
own body's pace and wisdom. Nature's foods and systems are indeed miraculous
but it does take time. If you would have more faith to continue and then find
a practitioner that could slowly wean you off the medications or at least reduce
them as you improve, that is the wisest way to proceed.
I do understand your skepticism... it starts with what we learn in school and
continues with massive media programming... but I do not concur with it. The
scientific information for the validity of the raw food diet is out there, you
just have to dig through the research to find it. Much research these days is
funded by big pharmaceutical companies which look to discredit natural systems
of medicine or healing, so I would look for truly independent research in the
area of biology or microbiology. Somewhere to start is with the work of Antoine
Bechamp, Claude Bernard and Gunther Enderlein who discovered our true biology
which is based on pleomorphism, instead of monomorphism (such as Pasteur's erroneous
germ theory of disease). Disease is caused from within... not without.
However, that said, the functioning of our thyroids can be affected by forces
from without, such as radiation leaks from microwave ovens, nuclear power plants,
airplane flights, pesticides, chemicals and medical tests which are lethal such
as mammography and others. All of us are at risk of developing thyroid problems
from these technologies. The raw food diet with all its nutrient density, of
course, would be protective, especially some sea vegetables which supply iodine
which protects the thyroid from radioactive forms of iodine.
To get more information on the thyroid, go to: www.mercola.com (Dr. Mercola
has a lot of articles on his site)
Also, www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.com (this site supplies herbal supports for
thyroid functioning as well as some doctor-prescribed alternatives to the common
forms of thyroid medication, which are too harsh.) Also, you could subscribe
to the Hippocrates Health Institute's (West Palm Beach) newsletter which comes
out a few times a year. In it there are numerous testimonials from people who
have healed all kinds of conditions. This is a form of evidence-based
studies, meaning that if you have a certain number of people who all heal up
after following a healthier lifestyle then for most people, that would be proof
that a = b.
At the Hippocrates Health Institute, the director Brian Clement says, in his
lectures, that there are a certain small percentage of people that do not get
healed because their mind set prevents it. One of the laws of life that I have
learned is that: In order to see, you have to believe. Unfortunately, most people
have it backwards - they think they have to see in order to believe. This latter
is the scientific way. However, we are not children born of science and technology,
but children born of Nature.
I wish for people to reconnect with the wisdom that is within and trust it.
Nature did not give us these magnificent bodies so that we would be sickly.
Wishing you much success in your quest for renewed health,
Rhio
