Chillin' at the Farm

When Rhio's mother changed residences and could no longer take care of him, Rhio and Leigh adopted Lucci.

Lucci's history

Lucci was living with someone in California who then died of Aids. After the death, Lucci wandered the halls of the building they had lived in scrounging food from tenants, but no one took him in. Rhio's son, Shaune, discovered Lucci when he visited a friend in the building in 1992. Shaune, a lover of animals, found a family to adopt Lucci but shortly thereafter Lucci was returned because he couldn't get along with the new family's cats. Then Shaune convinced his granny to take Lucci in, where he lived on a porch for many years.

When Rhio and Leigh adopted Lucci, he was cold and aloof towards people. Leigh kept talking to Lucci and telling him that he was going to become a New York City cat and that he could retire on the couch and live the good life. Once in New York, Rhio and Leigh converted Lucci to the raw diet which suited him just fine. He didn't rebel at all. In the beginning Lucci had pus dripping from his eyes. This went on for several months but then the condition cleared up. Lucci has also undergone a personality transformation. Where before he was cold and aloof towards people, now he is open, friendly and affectionate, greeting guests enthusiastically when they come to visit. He has also become a music lover, since Rhio and Leigh are in the music business.

Lucci also loves our new farm (2002) and his hunting instincts are apparently intact as he eats field mice and insects with great relish. He also eats grass. Lucci loves to follow Rhio around the farm as she attends to her plants. You can usually find him sitting contentedly a few feet away. Lucci acts more like a dog than a cat. When you call him, he comes running. He is truly an unexpectedly wonderful and loving companion. Lucci is approxmately 14 years old (2002).
